These NightCreepers are a band of silly French folk (Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, Île-de-France is from whence they came, according to the E.M.) that have been sailing the waves of melodic death power-folk for the last six years or so. They've gone through a few lineup changes over these years but under the guiding hand of frontman Vincent 'Haarath' Moretto have produced a couple of EPs and a couple of full-length albums, the latest of which is this year's 'Alpha'.
"Fetchez la vache!"
They seem to embrace an amalgamation of Viking, pirate, mythological and general fantasy-trope type lyrics but they do it with a pretty tight, focused sound. Their debut album 'Svingeheim' (2009) is pretty folk-heavy, but still heavy, if you get what I mean.
NightCreepers - 'Siegfried the Dragon Slayer'
I think this is what a friend of mine and fellow metal blogger means when he says "jig metal".
Their newest release, 'Alpha' (2012) brings a refinement to their sound, a more harmonious blending of the folk and metal elements.
NightCreepers - 'Frozen Outland'
All in all I'd say this is a band to watch out for. I have no news as to whether or not a third full-length album is in the works but I'll keep you posted. So far though, NightCreepers earns 4 out of 5 drinking horns raised and I seriously need to get a graphic for that business. By the way, here's the album cover of 'Alpha'. See that? See what's on there?
Also, wolves.
I AM DONE

Man, I've heard of a one-and-a-half or a two-handed sword... but that thing's enormous... it's like a three-handed sword (if such a thing existed).
Oh yeah, and... also, wolves.
I'm with VoS. I think that album cover was photoshopped. I bet the hooded guy had a smaller sword in the original.
Also, I liked the track from Alpha. Has a nasty blackened vibe going along with the folky melodies and rollicking rhythms.
Also, wolves.
